Remilekin Khalid Safaru popularly known as Reminisce is a Nigerian musician and ‘Orijin’ ambassador from Ogun State. In this chat with Adekitan Funso, he discussed how he met his wife and sundry issues.

Could you speak a bit about yourself?

I am married and have two beautiful daughters. One is a year old and the other is five years old. I enjoy spending time with my family and I don’t like going out.

Does your background influence who you are now?

Yes, my dad has a major influence on my music. I came from a family where my parents believe you have to be educated by all means and that has helped me to who I am now.

What inspires your various creations?

My environment.

Tell us about your perfect holiday destination

I travel a lot so, I don’t really know which is perfect because each comes with its own pleasure and challenge.

What is your sense of fashion?

I don’t have any rule; I wear anything I am comfortable in not minding how I look.

Which fashion item occupies most space in your wardrobe?

Shoes; I have over 160 pairs of shoes.

What determines the kind of outfit you wear?

Weather and mood.

Is there anything you will never be caught wearing?

I can never be caught wearing boxers to events.

How do you handle female fans’ excesses?

Everything must be done in moderation; there is a way to handle every situation. So, I handle them well.

How did you meet your wife?

I met her during our UMTE lesson, immediately after secondary school. Both of us are 34-year-old now. We got married at the age of 28 and I got popular just three years ago. We have passed through lots of challenges. It is a wonderful feeling when you enjoy with people that suffered with you.

You are aging beautifully, what is the secret?

I chill.

How do you relax?

I relax with Orijin.

How has the experience being as an ambassador of Orijin?

I feel good, it feels good that people want to associate with you and be affiliated with you.

There are lots of guys out there that wish to attain the height that you are now, what is your advice to them?

Just be yourself, it might take a while but keep pushing and your time will come. Some people had it easy but I did not. You have to be determined.

If you were to a fashion item, what will you be?

Shoes.

Do you consider any fashion item indispensable?

Shoes.

Wristwatch

How much?

I don’t want to disclose it.

How do you get your fashion items in Nigeria?

I don’t buy anything here.

Are you implying that our products are not good enough for you to use?

Yes, most of them are substandard; I prefer buying original stuff not minding the cost than buying substandard at the same price with standard ones. I usually get my needs whenever I travel.

Which fashion item catches your fancy while shopping?

I am a very detailed person. So I draft my list before I go for shopping. It makes it easy for me not to spend my money on what I don’t need.

Why did you pierce your ear?

It’s nothing but fashion.

Do you have tattoo?

No, I don’t like tattoo, look at my skin I don’t have anything like that.
