The Borno state House of Assembly has confirmed Alhaji Usman Durkwa as the new deputy governor of the state.
He was confirmed yesterday, October 13 during the sitting of the House in Maiduguri, NAN reports.
Announcing his confirmation, Alhaji Abdulkarim Lawal, the speaker of the House explained that Durkwa’s appointment followed the death of the state deputy governor, Alhaji Zannah Mustapha, on August 15 in Yola.
According to him, the appointment of a substantive deputy governor by the state governor, Kashim Shettima, was in line with the powers conferred on him by section 191 sub section 3 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Durkwa is the immediate past commissioner of the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Youths Empowerment.
