A furious man reportedly beat his seven-year-old daughter to death after she told him that she does not love him in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The blood-curdling incident took place on the day of Eid Al Adha, the feast of Sacrifice on 24 September. The father, who has not been named, flew into a rage after his small daughter Yara said she didn’t love him.

He ripped off a pipe from the air conditioner and attacked the crying girl at their family house. Then she locked his daughter in her bedroom and left her bleeding on the floor. Hours later, when he entered the room Yara was still lying in the same place motioneless .
He drove her to hospital, but it was too late. The girl died on the way to medical institution. Yara’s mother had been forced to live with her father under Saudi laws on divorce against her daughter’s wishes.
The girl’s father in his statement told the police that he was trying to educate her. The case is still pending in the court and the investigation is still on. The father is yet to be arrested.
In Saudi Arabia men have a unilateral right to divorce their wives without needing any legal justification. The divorce is effective immediately.
A woman can only obtain a divorce with the consent of her husband or judicially if her husband has harmed her. In the event of divorce, fathers have automatic custody of sons from the age of 7
