IG warns police commissioners

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, has threatened to redeploy Commissioners of Police whose jurisdiction is terrorised by suspected criminals. Addressing top police officers consisting of Deputy Inspector-Generals of Police (DIG), Assistant Inspector-Generals of Police (AIG) and Commissioners of Police, (CP), during the weekend at the Louis Edet House, Alhaji Shehu Shagari way, Abuja, Arase revealed that the military and the police were holistically tackling insurgents and other criminals.

He insisted that Commissioners of Police in different states must be in the front, in the war against terrorists, hoodlums, armed robbers and kidnappers. A police source said: “The meeting with the police chiefs lasted two days. The idea was to draw attention of the officers to the zero tolerance of the present administration for security lapses.”
