Police called after wheelchair user 'hit by a train' in Surrey


Trains were suspended shortly after 8pm this evening following the incident at Woking Railway Station

Police are investigating after a wheelchair user was reportedly hit by a train in Surrey.

Trains were suspended shortly after 8pm this evening following the incident at Woking Railway Station.

British Transport Police said the woman had been taken to hospital and is currently receiving treatment

A spokesman said: “We were called to Woking station on Wednesday 14 October following reports of a person being struck by a train.

“Officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 7.54pm alongside colleagues from Surrey Police and medics from South East Coast Ambulance Service.

“A woman was taken to hospital where she is currently receiving treatment.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

A SWT statement said: "Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Basingstoke and Surbiton all lines are blocked.

"Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 90 mins or revised. Disruption is expected until 11am.

"Trains are being disrupted between Basingstoke and Surbiton due to emergency services dealing with an incident.

"Lines are expected to be blocked for at least 90 minutes and trains may be delayed. revised or cancelled.

We are sorry for the delay to your journey this evening."
