Buhari to inaugurate private refinery in Akwa Ibom


Akwa Ibom State government has completed site clearing in Ibeno and Eket Local Government Areas, to construct crude oil refineries that would refine 100,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

Governor Udom Emmanuel, said the venture would be another milestone in the implementation of the on-going industrial policy of his administration, explaining that on the commencement of the construction, the expected host community would be required to give protection to the influx of expatriate investors.

The governor says before the end of November 2015 , President Mohammadu Buhari will be in the state to perform the ground breaking for the refineries that will employ over ten 10, 000 unemployed skilled and unskilled labour with conducive work environment, coupled with intellectual projections that has superior economic attraction.

Serious work is in progress Emmanuel also said that in furtherance of his promise to attract industries and create jobs for Akwa Ibom State people, his administration will be opening a coconut refining factory that will employ no fewer than 350,000 people when operational.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has already secured 5,000 hectares of land and cleared the land for the planting of 15,000 seedlings of coconut. Emmanuel said he decided to invest in coconut because of its unquantifiable socio-economic gains and medicinal values. He maintained that the industrialization drive of his administration has not been limited to new investments.
