MASSOB expels Uwazuruike over alleged fraudulent enrichment, appoints new leader

The leadership crisis rocking the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) took a dramatic twist Monday as national officers, regional administrators and members of the group in a three-paged communiqué resolved to sack with immediate effect, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike from the leadership of MASSOB.

While Comrade Uchenna Madu emerged the new leader of the group, Uwazuruike was indicted for alleged fraudulent enrichment at the expense of the Biafra struggle by a four-man probe panel which investigated his activities from 1999 to 2014

In a copy of the panel’s report made available to New Telegraph, signed by the four members, with Comrade Samuel Edison as Chairman and Comrade Chizoba Onwuzuruigbo as Secretary, it was stated that MASSOB members pay a minimum of N3,000 as national dues monthly to a First Bank account in the name of Lebeanya Ralph Uwazuruike. The report indicates that every MASSOB member secured membership identity card with the sum of N1,000 and also pay monthly income tax of N200 to Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.
