Buhari’s Wife Visits Benue Over Fulani Killings

Apparently disturbed by the recalcitrant attacks and killings of innocent farmers in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari Wednesday visited the state and condoned with victims, the government and people of the state over the attacks.

The President’s wife, who was represented by the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, said she was in the state to condole with victims of the protracted attack, commiserated with the victims over their plight.

Mrs. Buhari promised the federal government’s continued support to the state to help tackle the insecurity challenge the state is grappling with, saying as a mother, she was indeed touched by the plight of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and donated some relief materials to them.

While describing Benue as her second home, the President’s wife stated that she has been having sleepless nights over the spate of killings going on in the state, noting each time she thinks about Benue, the first thing that strikes her mind is the love for the people, and enjoined the people to continue to support the government of the day to benefit from the dividends of democracy.

Speaking, Governor Samuel Ortom lamented the level of destruction in the affected communities which he said was more than those caused by Boko Haram insurgents in the North East as most villages have been levelled by the Fulani insurgents.
