The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested a former Minister of State for Finance, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, over allegations that he collected N450 million from the $115 million campaign funds.
“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested a former Minister of State for Finance, Amb. Bashir Yuguda, for his alleged involvement in the sharing of the sum of N450 million allocated to Zamfara out of the $115m deposited in Fidelity Bank Plc. by the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, during the 2015 general elections.
“Yuguda is one of the former ministers in the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan who are being investigated by the anti-graft agency.
“Yuguda, in his statement, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, admitted to have collected a total of N450 million in his capacity as a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in his state,” the EFCC said.
The former minister, who hails from Zamfara State, was said to have admitted that he allegedly supervised the sharing of the money in his home.
