Both Norwich City and Newcastle United have been relegated from the English Premier League.
Even though neither side was in action on Wednesday night, the fact that fellow stragglers Sunderland, who were, beat hapless Everton 3-0 meant that the 38 points amassed was enough to keep the Black Cats up.
Although Norwich, which only gained promotion this season, did beat Watford 4-2 in their outstanding game Wednesday night it was not enough to keep them up.
The two teams will join already relegated Aston Villa in the Championship next season.
