Man Stabs Friend To Death Over Argument

A 25-year-old man, Samson Tella, has allegedly stabbed his friend, Abiodun Abdulkareem, to death in Ogun State. Police detectives apprehended the suspect on Tuesday at Iyesi Otta in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the arrest in a statement, said the suspect committed the crime with a bottle. Adejobi explained that a hot argument had ensued between Tella and Abdulkareem, 25, leading to the death of the latter.

He said: “The police operatives attached to Onipanu Division of the Ogun State Police Command arrested the suspect after the ugly incident when a friend to the deceased reported the case to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the division, who immediately swung into action.

“The suspect and the deceased had engaged in a hot argument, before the suspect stabbed his friend (deceased) with a bottle in his neck. The victim was rushed to the hospital and confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.” Adejobi said the Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, had already ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

According to him, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta, had been ordered to take up the matter. He said: “Ali has, therefore, appealed to the general public to always avoid unnecessary and unreasonable argument that could lead to a similar case of this nature or any criminal act. He also encouraged the youth to always maintain decorum whenever they have discussions on any issue.”
