A Permanent Secretary in the Ogun State civil service, Mrs Betty Olubunmi Odumusi, has died barely two days after she was sworn into office.
Odumusi, 57, died in her sleep in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased, who rose to the position of director in the state Ministry of Information and Strategy, was among the 14 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries who were sworn into office on Thursday by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Sunday Telegraph learnt that the senior civil servant died after a prolonged battle with cancer, which she had treated at both local and foreign hospitals.
Family sources said she was in the United States of America for medical treatment when Amosun announced her appointment and she flew back into Nigeria to attend the inauguration.
