Chelsea FC Signs Belgian Striker Michy Batshuayi

Batshuayi, who is currently away on international duty with Belgium at Euro 2016, has been linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs after scoring 17 goals for Marseille in Ligue 1 last season.
The 22-year-old was given special dispensation to leave the Belgium camp by head coach Marc Wilmots and was met by Chelsea’s team doctor in Bordeaux ahead of a £33m move to Stamford Bridge.

He passed his medical on Wednesday afternoon and the player’s camp is confident a deal will be wrapped up by the weekend.

Batshuayi has attracted offers from West Ham and Crystal Palace while Belgium team-mate Toby Alderweireld said that he hoped the forward would join him at Tottenham next season.
However, Batshuayi is now expected to become Antonio Conte’s first signing as Chelsea manager despite the club not being able to offer European football.

He was due to appear at Belgium’s news conference on Wednesday afternoon but was pulled out shortly after midday at the request of Marseille.

Photos: Model Goes 'Crazy' Strips Naked At Times Square While Screaming About Donald Trump

On Thursday morning police attempted to deal with a naked man who climbed to a ledge in Times Square and started screaming out obscenities and dancing..
He has since been identified as 21-year-old fashion model and Columbia University student Krit McClean., the New York Post reports.

McClean was said to be screaming nonsensically, mostly about Donald Trump, and at one point yelled: 'Donald Trump where are you, Donald Trump where the f*** are you?!'

When cops first approached he screamed, “Get that bitch Debbie, I want to talk to Debbie!”
The crazed man later demanded a meeting withTrump.
Cops blocked off rush-hour traffic in hopes of talking McClean down, to no avail as of 9 a.m.
He was also screaming out about fashion and dropped the names of two iconic fashion photographers.

“I love fashion, it’s taught me so much!”“I love you, Bruce Weber,” the man shouted. “I love you, Mario Testino.”

The man also proclaimed he’s a virgin and loves his mom.
As police tried to talk him down, McClean blew kisses to the crowd, performed a chicken dance and crudely taunted officers — grabbing his privates and shaking his backside at New York’s Finest.
At one point he spit in the faces of stone-faced police who kept their cool trying to help the troubled man.

An NYPD spokesman said

He was extremely combative,”“He was spitting at us and swinging his arms.”

Police quickly blew up a giant airbag below in case the man decided to jump from the 16-foot-tall staircase popular with tourists. The troubled man appeared to be conscious and was moaning as paramedics loaded him into an ambulance headed for Bellevue.

Mob Vandalises 15 BRT Vehicles Over Hawker’s Death

There was chaos on Wednesday at the Maryland end of the Ikorodu Road, Lagos State, as some hoodlums, who were protesting the death of a hawker, vandalised no fewer than 15 vehicles.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the hawker, 22-year-old Nnamdi John, was crushed to death by a Nissan Pathfinder and a trailer while escaping from some officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline, the enforcement arm of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment.

The officials were said to be returning from the Ojuelegba area, where they had gone for a raid and had stopped over at Maryland to round up hawkers and roadside traders in the area.

It was alleged that the KAI officials pursued the victim across the road and he was hit in a bid to escape from the law enforcement agents.

The officials reportedly fled the area as the friends of the deceased and sympathisers blocked the road and went on the rampage.

PUNCH Metro learnt that some of the vandalised buses belonged to the LAGBUS Asset Management Limited.

A female motorist, Folasade Aliyu, who claimed to be a witness, said, “The hawkers sighted the KAI officials and began to run away. The victim was first hit by a sport-utility vehicle before a trailer crushed him.

“The KAI officials were there to arrest traders and hawkers on the highway. They were pursuing the boy when he was hit by the SUV.

“Other hawkers and pedestrians became enraged. Some hoodlums joined the hawkers and pedestrians; they stopped an oncoming BRT and smashed its windscreens.”

Another witness, Ibironke Samuel, said the incident happened around 2pm, adding that the officers pushed the deceased to his death.

He said, “The KAI officers came in five vehicles. The vehicles were fully loaded with people they had arrested along the road.

“The boy had run across the road when the officers pursued him. When they caught up with him, they pushed him into the path of the SUV that killed him.”

Samuel said the KAI officials sped away in their vehicles after the Ebonyi State indigene had been crushed to death.

Subsequently, a mob was said to have blocked the road and started damaging vehicles owned by the government.

A witness, who did not identify himself, said some soldiers deployed to the area shot into the air to disperse the mob.

He added that the police later moved in to take the remains of the victim.

He said, “Some family members of the boy, who heard about the incident, also came. They met the police trying to take his corpse away, but they refused. They said they wanted to take the boy away for burial. The struggle for the body took a long time. Later, the police prevailed on the family and put the corpse at the back of their truck. His family members joined the police vehicle.”

During one of our correspondents’ visit to the scene, he saw a family member of the victim, Ukamaka Okoli, who said he started hawking goggles in January.

She said, “I just heard about what happened and that was why I rushed here. I was told the police had taken his corpse away. He just started selling goggles in Janaury. He lived with one of our brothers in Ikorodu.”

The Public Affairs Officer of KAI, Mrs. Ramat Alabi, said the officials were not in Maryland to arrest hawkers or traders along the road, adding that the hawkers ran for fear of being arrested.

She said, “Our officials did not go after the hawkers. KAI and LASTMA were at the Ojuelegba area earlier in the day for an operation. Our vans were returning and when we got to Anthony, the hawkers sighted us and began to run in different directions.

“This is usually their reaction whenever they suspect they could be arrested. It was in the process that the victim ran into the highway. One of the KAI buses was vandalised, but none of our officials was injured. It is not true that we made arrests in the area.”

The Public Relations Officer, LAGBUS, Mrs. Yemi Adesoye, said three vandalised buses had been brought into the company’s depot, adding that security agencies had restored order to the area.

She said, “So far, we can confirm that three of our buses were vandalised. We do not yet know whether there are more.

“According to our field operations manager, there are other buses managed by other companies.

“The government has deployed the Rapid Response Squad policemen to restore normalcy to the area. The three buses have been brought to our depot. In situations like this, there is no one to hold culpable for the damage on the buses as it was a mob attack.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, said policemen from the Anthony Police Division and the RRS were in the area to douse the tension.

She said, “The command received a report that the operatives of KAI were at Maryland on duty. While this was on, one of the hawkers ran into the path of a vehicle and was killed. This sparked some controversies and unrest.

“Policemen from the Anthony division and the RRS were deployed to the area to restore order. Investigation is ongoing on the incident.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government denied the report that the hawker was knocked down by a government vehicle.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, said in a statement that contrary to the information on the social media, the street hawker was hit by a truck belonging to a soft drink company.

He said, “It wasn’t any of our buses that killed him (hawker); it was a soft drink company truck that unfortunately crushed the boy while he was trying to escape from KAI officers who were trying to rid the highway of hawkers and traders.

“But hoodlums took advantage of the situation to start destroying government assets, including several of the brand new BRT buses.”

Ayorinde said the corpse of the victim was taken to the morgue at the General Hospital, Ikeja.

The commissioner said at least three hoodlums alleged to had been part of the mob that destroyed the BRT buses have been arrested, saying that the law would take its course.

Suspected Serial Rapist Set Ablaze In Delta

an angry mob on Wednesday set ablaze a suspected member of a gang of serial rapists that had terrorised Ughelli and its neighbouring communities in Delta State.

No fewer than four ladies, including the wife of a popular hotelier in the metropolis, had been raped by the gang of rapists in the last two weeks.

One of the victims lost her life in the process.

The group, according to residents, specialises in raping and attacking salesgirls and middle-aged women.

Luck, however, ran out on the suspected member of the group on Wednesday when he allegedly attempted to rape a salesgirl (name withheld) at the Adagharagba Junction near the Ughelli Central Market.

He was said to have been apprehended by the residents.

It was gathered that the suspect was apprehended by a mob at about 11.30am when he attempted to rape the salesgirl.

A resident, who witnessed the incident, told our correspondent that there had been a lot of killings and rape by a group of young men who targeted salesgirls and female traders within Ughelli and its environs.

The source noted that the suspected rapist had confessed that he was a member of a three-member gang that raped salesgirls and female traders in the community.

The suspect, who hailed from Oroahakpor community in Ethiope-West Local Government Area of the state, reportedly said other members of the gang fled on sighting the mob.

Another eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “The hoodlums pretended to be customers buying things in bulk and that was why they were allowed to enter the store. The next thing we heard was the screaming of the salesgirl and we immediately rushed in only to see that that she had been attacked; she was bleeding.

“The mob pursued the suspects, who had fled the scene. They caught up with one of them at the Omotor Junction, where he was set ablaze before the arrival of security agents.”

The salesgirl, while recounting her ordeal at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Ughelli Central Hospital where she was receiving treatment, said the suspects came under the guise of wanting to purchase items from the store.

She said, “One of them hit me on the head and I screamed.I was rescued by a male neighbour, who rushed to the shop, after the suspects had fled the scene.”

It was later gathered that another member of the group was arrested along Market Road by policemen from the Ughelli Police Division.

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Celestina Kalu, said she had not been briefed on the incident.

Police arrest suspects involved in burning 47 BRT buses following death of hawker

arrested suspects

All hell was let loose in Maryland, Lagos, yesterday when a hawker was crushed by a truck.
His colleagues went wild, destroying about 47 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses belonging to Primero Transport Service Ltd and several others owned by LAGBUS Asset Management.
The debris of the buses filled the road from Maryland to Obanikoro.
Eyewitnesses said the eyeglasses hawker was trying to evade arrest by Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officials when he ran into the truck’s path.
The accident, which happened around 1.15pm, caused a traffic gridlock, which stretched from the Maryland Independence Tunnel to Fadeyi.
An eyewitness said:

“KAI officials pursued the guy who tried to run away with his wares, but he was hit by a truck which was on high speed.
But another witness said the hawker ran into a Honda vehicle and was crushed.

He said:
“What I saw was a Honda vehicle which was on high speed. It hit the guy when he was running towards the other side of the road and he died immediately while his intestine came out. Immediately the vehicle owner realised he had killed someone, he parked and stepped out to sympathise with the guy’s fellow hawkers but he was later asked to leave as many people reasoned it was not his fault but KAI’s who pursued him to death.”
A mob barricaded both sides of the road, hindering motorists’ movement.
The mob, The Nation learnt, chased away the first and second batches of policemen that arrived on the scene.
To escape from the mob, some drivers were said to have abandoned their buses and fled. Others manoeuvred their way out of the mayhem.
Some hawkers told The Nation:
“Those KAI officials are wicked people. Can you imagine how cruel they are? The innocent man had already obeyed them by running away to avoid being punished but they kept chasing him till he was killed by a car. Immediately they saw that the car had knocked him down, they drove off speedily. We are all human beings and we are not happy with the situation. We need to let the government know that we can’t take the injustice. Therefore, venting our anger on the buses is the best way to let them know what they have done is bad. The poor man is gone but we will make sure all the buses that would ply this road today must pay for his death.”
A driver with Primero Transport Service Ltd, Mr Adedeji Adeosun, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN):
“I was in traffic for about 20 minutes at Maryland. Then I saw some people running from Maryland and I opened the door to see what was happening. I heard shouts from people that we should come down, so, I immediately removed my uniform. I saw about 100 of the hoodlums otherwise called ‘area boys’ coming with stones and so I ran away.
“All the passengers on board my bus also came down and ran for dear life. I was hit by a big stone”. Another driver, Mr Michael Onabolu, said:

“I saw people running and shouting that I should come down from the bus. And all of a sudden, I saw some guys surrounding the buses and asking my passengers and I to come down. Before I knew it, one of them hit the bus with a big stone and I could not move because of the traffic. I was wounded on my hands and my thighs with stones’’.
He said the passenger beside him was also hit by a stone, adding that all the passengers were moved to other buses to continue their journey.
A commuter, Mr Elijah Omotayo, said the mob attacked their driver for not opening the doors.
Omotayo, a student, told NAN: “They started throwing stones and one of the stones hit my head”.
Primero Ltd Managing Director Mr Fola Tinubu, expressed displeasure over the incident, saying: “We don’t know what happened, whatever it is; it is something that has to do with the government or the police. But does that give aggrieved people the right to destroy private property”.
He added:
“People are saying that there are no jobs in Nigeria; we have created over 2,000 jobs in the last six months. Is this the reward we will get for it? We need to start asking ourselves serious questions in this country. They have destroyed over 14 of our buses now. I don’t even know how many they have destroyed now. For what, what did we do? I am angry. I don’t even know where to begin because there is no justification for destroying private property; our service is for the masses. Do you know how many people will be stranded today if we don’t go out to pick them up? How are they going to get home? We do this for the masses. Is this the reward that we will get? This is madness.”
Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) Communications Director Mr Kola Ojelabi told The Nation last night that about 47 BRT buses were destroyed.
This, he said, was more than 10 per cent of the numbers of buses on that route.
A combined team of soldiers and policemen restored law and order before traffic started moving again.
They used tyres and big stones to shield the body to ensure free flow of traffic.

Court Frees 11 Indians, Others Accused Of Bunkering

A Federal High Court in Calabar on Thursday freed 11 Indians, three Ghanaians and two Nigerians facing trial for alleged oil theft in the Nigerian territorial waters.

In the suit number FHC/YNG/CS/82C/2014 filed on behalf of the Federal Government by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the suspects were said to have been arrested on board MV Maro on July 22, 2014 at the Agbara platform in Bayelsa State by officials of the Nigerian Navy.

The 16 suspects listed as defendants were Robert Petor; Wilfred Fianu; Raphael Agidi; Soni Kumar; Pradeep Sharma; Manoj Kumar; Ajay Kumar; Joseph Tadan; Puran Tadan; Heeray Todan; Mr. Parveen; Ankit Rana; Hanson Jacob; Joyful Rongme; Muhammed Alan and Quashnie Kofi.

But after the prosecuting counsel for the EFCC, Mr. Ramiah Ikhanaede, had closed his case with several documents which were admitted as exhibits, defence counsel for the suspects immediately filed a no-case submission.

In his ruling on the no-case submission, presiding judge of the Federal High Court, Calabar, Justice Inyang Ekwo, said the prosecution counsel could not prove his case.

For lack of evidence, Justice Ekwo, therefore discharged and acquitted the 16 suspects including the agents of Saroj Shipping Company and the MV Maro vessel itself.

“The prosecution did not establish any nexus of conspiracy. The evidences provided have nothing to do with conspiracy. All the defendants are therefore discharged and acquitted,” he said.

Counsel for the EFCC were absent during the ruling, but defence counsel for the 11 Indians, Mr. Jerry Omoregie, said the ruling was a straight confirmation that there was no case.

Lebanese Dupes Three Lagos Customers, Absconds With N170m

A Lebanese and bureau de change operator, Aly Sayad, has been accused of absconding with $487,700 (about N170m) in the Victoria Island area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that three businessmen had approached the suspect in his office on Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, to help them change $487,700 to naira.

He was alleged to have left the men in the office after collecting the money, saying he was going to the bank to transfer the naira equivalent to their various bank accounts.

After waiting for hours, the victims were said to have gone to the bank where Sayad claimed he was going to do the transaction, but could not find him.

He was alleged to have fled with the money.

The case was reported at the Bar Beach Police Division, where a manhunt was launched for the suspect.

A police source told PUNCH Metro that the incident happened on Tuesday, adding that the complainants approached the police after searching for Sayad for seven hours.

He said, “The three men actually met at the Lebanese man’s office where they gave him money totalling $487,700 which they wanted to change to naira. He told them to wait for him that he would be going to the bank to deposit the dollars and transfer the naira equivalent into their bank accounts.

“The three businessmen waited until banking hours were almost over. They decided to go and check him around 3pm, but they didn’t find him in the bank. After checking at other places without result, they reported the matter to the police.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that nobody knew the address of the suspect.

Badmos, a Superintendent of Police, said, “We are on his trail. The unfortunate thing is that nobody knows his address. We have transferred the matter to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, for further investigation. We will surely get him.”

The singer said he still has a good relationship with May D, and Confam entertainment is still been contacted by clients for shows and bookings.

I have known May D before he became a star, I am no more with Confam entertainment, it was a joint decision, we decided what was best for the brand, there is no beef at all, and people still call Confam entertainment for bookings.”

What can be deducted from this is the fact that it looks like Confam entertainment couldn’t meet up to some of the requirement the artiste needed. Mo Blow has not really been able to ‘Blow’ like his name implies.
