Pastor charged to court for raping two men in Lagos

A self-acclaimed pastor, identified as Sadeeq Mustapha, is facing trial at a Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting at Ogba, Agege where he has been charged with alleged attempt to rape two men. Sadeeq (27) allegedly attempted to forcefully have sexual intercourse with a transporter, Oladimeji Taiwo, and a teacher, Yusuf Idowu, on October 9 and 10. The incident allegedly took place at No 9 Disu Akogun Street, Dopemu, Lagos.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has warned bank customers to ignore text messages alleged to be from their banks asking them to disclose personal bank informations.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Friday urged bank customers to be cautious of unknown individuals alerting them on the deactivation of their bank accounts due to incomplete registration for Bank Verification Number.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Ibrahim Mu’azu, Director Corporate Communications of the CBN posted on the apex bank’s website.

As rand benefits from dollar weakness, stocks climb

The retail price of petrol in South Africa will decrease by 1.75 percent from November 4, while wholesale diesel will decrease 0.8 percent, the energy department said on Saturday.

In a statement, the department said petrol would cost 12.39 rand ($0.9) per litre in the commercial hub of Gauteng province, while diesel would be 10.84 rand.

A Burkina Faso man has been criminally charged by U.S. prosecutors in New York over an alleged $12.2 million fraud in which he put millions of people in his home country at risk for malaria by distributing bogus mosquito nets.

Malamine Ouedraogo, 33, was accused on Friday by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara of defrauding the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Geneva, Switzerland, and the U.S. Agency for International Development, which both provide financing to promote global health.

Moscow has played down an Islamic State-linked group’s reported claim that it downed a Russian passenger jet in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula.
The Airbus A321 crashed into a mountainous area shortly after losing radar contact near cruising altitude, with all 224 passengers and crew thought to have been killed.
A statement attributed to the Wilayat Sinai (Sinai Province) group said: “The fighters of the Islamic State were able to down a Russian plane over Sinai province that was carrying over 220 Russian crusaders. They were all killed, thanks be to God.”

US Secretary of State John Kerry has refused to rule out deploying more US personnel to battle IS in Syria.
It comes a day after the White House announced the first “boots on the ground” in the country, with up to 50 special forces personnel taking on an “advise and assist” role with local forces.
Spokesman Josh Earnest said their role should not be described as a “combat mission”, but Kerry admitted it was impossible to know what it might take to defeat Islamic State.
“I can’t predict what the future will bring when our policy is to destroy Daesh [IS], to fight back against this evil,” said Kerry, speaking in Kyrgyzstan on Saturday.

Egyptian security forces confirmed there have been no survivors despite 'hearing voices' inside the wrecked fuselage of a Russian passenger jet which crashed into the Sinai desert in northern Egypt as the bodies of 100 victims have been recovered.

The aircraft, which had 200 adult passengers, 17 children and seven crew crashed less than 25 minutes after it took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. The bodies of all 17 children on board have been recovered

A woman stripped naked and braved the autumnal weather on rooftop for four hours as a piece of unusual performance art .
Puzzled passers-by couldn't believe their eyes when they spotted the nudist high above London's East End.
The artist, Poppy Jackson, was making the disrobed demonstration as part of an arty installation.
One witness, 29-year-old Raquel Rodrigues, was one of those taken aback by the strange sight.
