President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday met behind closeddoors with former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar at the presidential villa, Abuja. The meeting, which was said to be a private one, was held inside the President’s office and last for just 30 minutes.
Abdulsalami arrived the seat of power at 3.30p.m. just after the conclusion of the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting which was presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.
The former Head of State did not speak with journalists at the end of the meeting. Abdulsalami served as the Chairman of the National Peace Committee that worked towards the peaceful conduct of the 2015 general elections. His visit yesterday to the Villa is the second since Buhari was inaugurated on May 29.
After their last meeting with the president, Kukah had told reporters that the committee members advised the president to follow due process in its war against corruption.
