Court Martial jails Ransome-Kuti over Baga terror attack

Strong indications emerged last night that the General Court Martial (GCM) sitting at the Army Headquarters (AHQ) Garrison, Abuja has dismissed the former Commander of the disbanded Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Baga, Borno State, Brig. Gen. Enitan Ransome-Kuti.

New Telegraph gathered from a highly placed source, that the Major General Ekanem-led GCM arrived at the decision, after finding the one-star General guilty of an offence bordering on failure to perform military duty.

The source, who spoke in confidence, said Ransome- Kuti was also found guilty on a second count, which is miscellaneous offence relating to service property. On that score, he is to serve a prison term of six months.

DGossip247, however, gathered that the verdict is subject to ratification by the Army Council. Ransome-Kuti had earlier been discharged and acquitted on the first count charge of cowardly behaviour.

The offence originated from the January attack on the JTF base by Boko Haram fighter. His commanders in the battle had earlier been discharged and acquitted by the Court Martial but his no-case submission was dismissed by the court.
