Jonathan's Ambition A Threat To Democracy, National Security

The second term ambition of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been described as a threat to democracy, peace and national security of Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement by the Executive Chairman, Committee For The Protection Of Peoples Mandate (CPPM),  Nelson Ekujumi, titled,”2015 General Elections and The Long Walk To Freedom.”
According to him,” President Jonathan ambition as a threat to our democracy, peace and national security was further exposed today when his recruited supporters and OPC thugs unleashed violence on hapless Lagosians in a show of intimidation and shame by assaulting road users, pulling down and destroying banners, posters and billboards of the APC.
“They even went as far as brandishing all types of dangerous weapons ranging from pump action guns, Dane guns, cutlass, jack knives, charms and amulets, etc.
One wonders why President Jonathan who has always been economical with the truth about his ambition not worth the blood of any Nigerian descending so low in denigrating the office of the President of the federal Republic of Nigeria by being linked to crudity of sponsoring violence on Nigerians even in the midst of his bazaar of corruption of bribing individuals and groups with foreign currency running into millions of dollars at a time over 30 trillion naira oil sales receipt is unaccounted for by his government, at a time when over 23 states are owing salaries of workers for over 3 months as a result of the drop in states allocation from the federation account due to falling crude oil prices and stealing of sales revenue by the federal government, at a time President Jonathan is trying to pull wool over our eyes by calling for a 30% reduction in the salaries and emoluments of public office holders even in the midst of monumental corruption by his government.
One can go on and on, but the truth of the matter is that President Jonathan undemocratic and unconstitutional resolve to scuttle our democracy is as clear as daylight and as the D-day for the 2015 general elections draws near on March 28th and April 11th, 2015, this is calling on all Nigerians to be determined, resolute, focused and prepared for a long battle because the walk to freedom is a long walk and ours cannot be any different. But one thing is certain; we shall overcome all plots of evil and together berthed in the promised land of our dreams,” he stated.
September 2010 was the first time Jonathan expressed his ambition to be President of Nigeria. On 15 September 2010, Jonathan announced on Facebook that he had decided to run for his first ever political election to hold public office as President of Nigeria in 2011.
In the contest for the Peoples Democratic Party nomination, Goodluck Jonathan was up against the former vice-president Atiku Abubakar and Mrs. Sarah Jubril. On 13 January 2011 the primary election results were announced in Eagle Square, Abuja with victory in two-thirds of the states of the federation counted and Jonathan was declared winner.
For the general election in 2011, Jonathan and Vice-President Sambo attended political events and travelled the country to campaign for the nation’s highest office. Jonathan won the general election against General Muhammadu Buhari and his running mate Nuhu Ribadu with 59% of the votes. On 18 April, Jonathan was declared the winner of the election.
On March 28th 2015, Jonathan will once again be running against General Mohammadu Buhari as President of Nigeria. He has expressed his intention of doing this last year, and Nigerians are now waiting with bated breath, wondering if Jonathan will once again defeat Buhari and begin a second term.
