Policemen attached to the Special Anti-robbery Squad, Lagos State police command are investigating five men suspected to be deadly cult leaders in Lagos State.
It was gathered that the suspects were arrested by policemen attached to the Pedro Police Station and were later transferred to SARS.
According to police sources, the suspects were arrested over allegations of armed robbery and murder in the Shomolu and Bariga areas of the state.
Police sources added that the suspects have been on the wanted list of security agents in the state but luck ran out on them when they were sighted by a decoy team ordered to fish them out.
The police source gave the names of the suspects as James, Arogbu, Slegde, Ibrahim Abdukarim popularly known as Elede and one Friday popularly known as Fryo.
The police source said “ Ibrahim, who is well known as Elede was arrested in a vehicle in Bariga after he was sighted by policemen on patrol in the area. He has been on the wanted list of the police since 2013 following the gruesome murder of a youth in Shomolu area of the state. He went into hiding but he felt that police have forgotten and he returned to cause mayhem but he was sighted and arrested. The police arrested him and charged him to court in 2012 but after he came out, he went into another crime and later fled to Ikorodu after the killing of a youth. The others were apprehended when they went to rob at the Pedro area.
In a related development, the Lagos state police command spokes person DSP Kenneth Nwosu stated that Police Surveillance Team attached to Isolo Division arrested eight persons suspected to be cultists. DSP Nwosu revealed that the policemen intercepted a black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with Reg. No. AKD 406 BR with 8 male occupants along Chemist Bus Stop Isolo.
After searching the vehicle, the following items were recovered from the gang leader, one Samson Ogunmokan of No.14, Salako Street, Ilasamaja Lagos. One locally made pistol with 2 live cartridges, assorted charms, 10 GSM handsets, one Horse whip and cash sum of #31,000.00. The case is under investigation at Isolo Division.
