
This is as a total of 196 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Unit Commanders have completed their conversion course at the PMF Training College in Ila Oragun, Osun State. The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mrs Olabisi Kolawole, an Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), disclosed this in a statement. Arase, the statement noted, congratulated Nigerians on the anniversary celebration.
The statement reads in part: “The IGP has specifically directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors- General of Police and Command Commissioners of Police to ensure adequate and effective deployment of all operational tools and manpower within their commands, in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of the citizenry.” On the passing out of the officers, Arase tasked the new PMF Unit Commanders to take supervision and control of their policemen very seriously with a view to avoiding vicarious liability.
“The IG also mandated them to do away with illegal deployment of their men to unauthorised persons or beats, reiterating the need to be civil to members of the public in the course of carrying out their duties and ensuring zero tolerance for corruption.
“A total number of one hundred and 196 police officers have been undergoing intensive training in combat operations, ethics, personnel management, musketry, human rights, firearm laws and regulations among other things aimed at equipping them to become effective and efficient unit commanders,” the statement added.
