Arsene Wenger is set to complete his first January signing, after Mohamed Elneny underwent a medical on Tuesday.
Arsenal have already agreed a £5million fee with Basel for the Egyptian midfielder and the deal will be completed when the transfer window opens on Friday.
Elneny has already agreed personal terms on a contract worth worth around £60,000-a-week and will also need to wait on a work permit.
It is believed that will not be a problem, as the 23-year-old is a regular for club and country.
