An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court yesterday sentenced a 45-year-old man, Bamidele Tijani, to three years imprisonment for raping a 10-year-old girl, Nafisat (surname withheld).
The convict perpetrated the act on December 19, 2013 at Isale Osun area of Osogbo. Tijani also mutilated Nafisat’s private part while defiling her.
Nafisat also became unconscious after being raped.
The police prosecutor, Mr. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that “the offence committed by the convict was contrary to and punishable under Section 218 of the criminal code”. Since the day of his arraignment, Tijani had, however, pleaded guilty.
