The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has said the government and the people of the state will never be intimidated to surrender governance to political desperadoes.
According to him, even if President Muhammadu Buhari ordered one million armed men to invade the state, they will still not be intimidated, Vanguard reports.
Fayose said he was not one of those Nigerians that are afraid of harassment by any agency of the federal government and he will continue to speak his mind.
He said:
“If Buhari likes, let him relocate all DSS men in Nigeria with the entire ammunition in their armoury to Ekiti, the will of Ekiti people can never be broken. The governor was reacting to by men of the Department of State Services (DSS) last Friday.
“They will only try, and like they have always done, they will fail because dictatorship has never triumphed over the people. Even Buhari’s dictatorship between 1984 and 1985 ended one day and Nigerians will also outlive his present dictatorship.”
In a statement on Sunday, March 6, by his special assistant on public communications and new media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose accused the DSS under President Buhari of operating beyond its constitutional mandate.
According to him, the DSS led by Buhari’s kinsman, Lawal Daura has abandoned its core mandate and was now running after perceived opponents of the president, “arresting goat and fowl thieves, as well as husbands who assaulted their wives.
“If the DSS was alive to its responsibilities, we won’t be having Boko Haram insurgents killing Nigerians. All these kidnappings and Fulani Herdsmen killings, raping and destroying farmlands in the South-West, South-East and North-Central zones in the country would have been nipped in the bud.”
The Ekiti governor said Buhari was using the DSS to harass, oppress and intimidate Nigerians, adding the democracy was becoming unsafe in the hands of President Buhari and his party the All Progressives Party (APC)).
“Those keeping silent now because of politics may also end up in the belly of this roaring lion that is threatening to consume our democracy,” he said.
Governor Fayose called on Nigerians and the international community to take special notice of the use of the DSS and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to oppress the opposition.
Fayose is always criticising the administration of Buhari and he has come under series of attack for doing so.
He recently accused . According to him, the moment the president distanced himself from his own campaign document titled “My Covenant with Nigerians,” he knew that Nigerians had been that fooled.
