The Federal Government has been urged to encourage the establishment of modular refineries in the country if it must urgently address the incessant fuel scarcity in the country and maintain stability in the price of premium motor spirits otherwise known as petrol.
The Delta Central Youth Leader in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Israel Adarighofua, made the suggestion yesterday in a reaction to the return of long queues in filling stations across the country due to the scarcity of premium motor spirits. Arguing that the setting up of modular refineries would not only address the issue of fuel scarcity and pricing, Adarighofua said it will also create employment for the teeming youths of the country.
He said: “It is a shame that we are moving in circle, the prices of petrol is going up and down, now it is not even going down anymore.
I believe the easiest way out of this crisis is for the Federal Government to encourage the setting up of modular refineries, where these products can be refined locally.
