Nigerian Player Gets Political Appointment


A former super eagles player, Sam Sodje has been given a political appointment by the governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa.

The appointment which takes place with an immediate effect saddled the player with the authority to head the newly constituted Delta State U-16 Elite League.

However, he is expected to discover football talents, and the generation next players that will uplift the name of the state.

The Elite league is a section under the Delta state sports commission and the aim of this appointment is for the player to produce talents for the NPFL side, Warri Wolves.

And also, the 36-year-old former player is to ensure that players that hailed from the state are well taken care of, financially, morally, psychologically and physically.

recall that Sodje was involved in a match-fixing allegation after he allegedly admitted to having being paid £70,000 to be sent off in a match.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles interim coach

The coach also suggested that he was buoyed by the support he has received from players he invited for the double header stating their willingness to work for him. Siasia Speaking in Abuja ahead of the resumption of camp Siasia said:

“I have spoken to the likes of Mikel, Moses, Odion, Iheanacho and others; they are all ready to play.

They said: “Coach, we are coming to do it and play for you,” which is a good assurance. So, we want to go out there with a positive mind to make sure that we put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.”
