Onazi Rues Egypt Miss In Kaduna

Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, said he was disappointed he would be missing the first leg of the AFCON 2017 qualifiers against the Pharaohs of Egypt in Kaduna later this month.

Onazi was red-carded in the game against Chad played in Kaduna at the beginning of the qualifiers and was expected to miss two games.

He was not part of the team that played a goalless draw against Tanzania and will be out of the first leg against Egypt. Speaking from his base in Italy, the Lazio of Italy player said it was very painful but already looking forward to the second leg in Alexandria, Egypt.

“It is painful that I won’t be on the pitch to face the Pharaohs in Kaduna because I still got a match suspension to serve from the red card I picked in the match against Chad last year for the AFCON qualifier,” he said. “But I believe so much in my colleagues to beat the Egyptian while I support them from the bench.

“For me now, the more important of the two games is the one that will be played in Egypt. I am ready to give my best there and possibly help the team to shock the hosts on their home soil.”
