After a brief lull, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants including a serving commissioner in Ondo State, Prince Bamiduro Dada have started declaring their interests in ruling the state.
Aside Dada, who is the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Yekini Olanipekun has signified his intention to succeed Governor Olusegun Mimiko when his tenure expires next year.
The PDP had barred its members from declaring their intention to rule the state leaving the political turf for the rival APC and Social Democratic Party (SDP). The APC has about 40 governorship aspirants while SDP has one.
Speaking with his supporters after a meeting held in Akure, the state capital Monday, Dada said he is in the best position to continue with the legacies of Mimiko having worked closely with him for seven years.
According to him, the legacies of Mimiko including free bus shuttle, free medical services to pregnant women and under five years, mega primary schools, mother and child hospitals and road development need to be sustain.
Dada said he is confidence that the people of the state would vote for PDP because of the various developments the party has brought to the state saying the rival All Progressives Congress (APC) is not an alternative to the ruling party in the state.
