Shiites Deny Abduction Of Army Officer

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has denied that it is behind the abduction of Colonel Samaila Inusa, a senior army officer, who was kidnapped last Saturday in Kaduna, in order to secure the release of its leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, from detention.

The group’s spokesman, Ibrahim Musa, in a statement issued yesterday, said that the report which quoted some unnamed sources that linked IMN to the kidnap, is part of the government’s campaign of calumny and false propaganda against the movement.

There was a clash between the Nigerian Army and the members of the movement in December last year, in which many of the Shiite members were alleged to have been killed.
