The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh yesterday at the party’s office in Awka narrated the detail of his 15 hours interrogation at te Directorate of State services (DSS), Abuja saying that he was neither molested or handcuffed.
Umeh who was arrested in Awka on Thursday by the DSS and taken to Abuja over allegations of insulting President Mohammadu Buhari, assuring Biafran agitators of a voice in the National Assembly if elected Senator supporting Biafra agitators and other treasonable felonies during his campaign has been discharged Briefing journalists in Awka, Umeh said he was courteously treated by the DSS officials in his 15-hour stay with them. He said: “At Lokoja, where they stopped over to refill their fuel tank, they bought me water and at another point, they bought me tomtom.
I was not handcuffed. He, however, noted that at the Amawbia office of the DSS at Awka where he was taken before their movement to Abuja, fierce looking operatives herded him into their vehicle to Abuja. “I suggested to them that we travel to their Abuja office by flight but they insisted that we must make it by road.
“Anybody who saw when they were asking me into their vehicle would think that they had arrested a coup plotter. So at that time any person who saw us might misconstrue the situation and that might be the time some people had that wrong perception that I was handcuffed. Nobody handcuffed me. “I enjoyed my experience with the DSS. That was my first experience with them, and I think I enjoyed it.
The APGA senatorial candidate said he was released by the security operatives at about 1am yesterday after serial interrogations at various departments of the DSS Abuja office, adding that the allegations against him before the DSS were all treasonable. He said the DSS alleged that the allegations were recorded in his speeches during his campaign tours across his constituency.
