Over 19,000 Children Die Of Malaria Yearly In Niger



This will not be cheering news to the government and people of Niger State.

The state has been rated as the state with the highest percentage of number of children who died of malaria every year.


It said in the North Central geo-political zone of the country, Niger State recorded over 19,000 deaths of children under five years of age as a result of malaria attack every year.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jibril Mustapha disclosed this during a press briefing held at Gussoro in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, as part of activities marking this year’s Malaria Day. While lamented the percentage of death recorded by the state, which he noted has resulted over N5.2 billion in economic loss to the state.
