Nigeria cannot afford to compromise her unity, Amosun

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has urged Nigerians to continue to have faith in the unity of the country rather than canvassing for factors that will cause its disintegration.
The governor made the appeal Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in a lecture he delivered entitled: “Nigeria at 55: The Pains, the Gains, the Prospects”, organised by the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Represented by the Secretary to the state government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, Amosun warned that such developments as the Boko Haram insurgency, militancy in the Niger Delta, as well as kidnappings across the country are issues that Nigerians must jointly tackle.

He urged the various ethnic based
organisations like Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Movement for Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra and Arewa to stop inciting Nigerians of possible break up, noting that doing such ‎was capable of threatening the unity of the country.
