NIMASA had 10-year contractual agreement with Global West – DG

The contractual agreement between the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and Global West Vessels Specialists Limited, for the latter to provide platform for fighting piracy on the country’s waterways, was for a period of 10 years.

There were reports that President Muhammadu Buhari, had directed the termination of the contract with Global West Vessels Specialists Limited. A former militant leader,

Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (a.k.a Tompolo), is said to have links with the company.
The revelation on the contract was made Tuesday in Abuja, by the Director-General of NIMASA, Mr. Haruna Jauro, during a courtesy call on the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas,
He noted that the company, under the contractual agreement, was meant to donate its platform to help check piracy.
By the nature of the agreement, Global West Specialists Limited, was saddled with the responsibility of procuring, maintaining and managing the platforms.
