CCT Trial: Saraki’s Media Office Raises The Alarm Over Blackmail

The Media Office of Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, has raised the alarm over alleged orchestrated blackmail targeted at personalities with respect to Saraki’s trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President of the Senate on Media, Yusuph Olaniyonu, and obtained by our correspondent yesterday, the office alerted members of the public on the purported renewed attempts by those behind his on-going trial at the CCT, to muddle up the case and blackmail key individuals and groups involved directly and indirectly in the case.

It noted that the forces had since the resumption of the case last Friday been sponsoring various spurious allegations, aimed at intimidating members of the Tribunal, Lawyers, Journalists, Legislators, Saraki’s loyalists and aides.

It said that the elements fighting the President of the Senate, had employed the services of some media outfits to peddle false information to prejudice the impending trial and compel those handling the case to take premeditated decision in the case.

The statement also said that the anti-Saraki actors, have been harassing and intimidating by making phoney calls and trailing the movements of associates of the President of the Senate, just to poison the minds of the public against him ahead of hearing on the case, on March 11.
