CSO Calls For UN, AU Others Intervention In Govts Lawlessness In Nigeria

A Rights group Human Rights Writers Association (HURIWA) has called upon the United Nations, African Union and President Barack Obama of the United States of America to intervene in the multiple cases of alleged impunity and lawlessness perpetrated against the citizens of Nigeria by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

HURIWA made this call through its President Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko at the occasion of the inauguration of Professor Chinua Achebe’s Human Rights Library, in Abuja.
The group lamented that President Muhammadu Buhari is presiding over a lawless government that has no regard for legal processes and indulges in selective anti-corruption crusade.
Onwubiko while also condemning the recent activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission stated that “As a pro-transparency group, we support a law based and rights-based strategy to combat corruption, economic crimes and other financial crimes but we make haste to once more state emphatically that EFCC has through various back hand tactics, conveyed the impression that it is lawless and indeed above the law.”
