Manchester United teenagers Marcus Rashford and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson have signed new contracts at the club until 2020, with the option of a further year, after both enjoying memorable breakthrough seasons at Old Trafford in 2015/16.
Rashford started the season in United’s Under-18 team but quickly progressed and marked his senior debut by scoring two goals in a 5-1 UEFA Europa League victory over Midtjylland in late February 2016.
Another brace for the 18-year-old followed three days later, in a 3-2 Barclays Premier League win over Arsenal, and he has gone on to net five goals and provide two assist in 11 top-flight appearances.
He capped off his meteoric rise with a goal in a 2-1 victory over Australia on his senior England debut, and he is in Roy Hodgson’s provisional 26-man squad for UEFA Euro 2016.
Academy product Rashford told manutd.com: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract. I have always been a Manchester United fan, so to be playing in the first team really is a dream come true.
“I am grateful for having the chance to prove myself. To be able to play football at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family.”
Borthwick-Jackson is a fellow BPL debutant this season, making his first senior league appearance for United against West Bromwich Albion in November.
The 19-year-old went on to play 14 league matches for United in 2015/16, earning him the Under-21 Player of the Year at the club’s end-of-season awards, as voted by the fans.
Borthwick-Jackson said: “I have grown up at United and have enjoyed every minute of being here. Last season was an incredible experience.”
